Early Interest and Academic Foundation

Living within a small island context offers continuous exposure to coastal and marine systems where ecological processes are directly intertwined with social and economic structures. In such environments, the condition of coastal ecosystems plays a critical role in shaping resource availability, livelihood practices, and community resilience. This setting highlights the close relationship between environmental integrity and human well-being in coastal regions.

This context encouraged a way of viewing the ocean beyond its immediate utilitarian value, drawing attention to its ecological complexity and vulnerability. An academic interest emerged around how changes in marine ecosystems can be systematically observed and evaluated through scientific approaches. Formal training in Aquatic Resource Management at Pattimura University provided a foundation for understanding these dynamics from physical and ecological perspectives, supporting a more analytical engagement with marine systems.
